Description:
Australia's oldest inland city, famous since the gold rush of the 1850s. Bush ranger Ben Hall once robbed the jewellery store. William Cox built the road over the Blue Mountains in 1814 to the town. When governor Lachlan Macquarie visited the settlement in 1815 he named it after Lord Bathurst. Photo shows Howick Street in the early 1900s.
