Shopkeepers of narrow Rowe Street, next to the Australian Hotel, would like to give it the beauty treatment. They suggest a flagged walk with "Paris style" coffee shops, colorful awnings and sun umbrellas, small shrubs and trees, side-street benches for city pedestrians to relax during shopping hours. The shopkeepers welcomed a suggestion at a recent City Council meeting to close Rowe Street to lunch hour vehicular traffic for a trial period.
