Description:
The deserted No. 7 wharf at Walsh Bay during the nationwide waterside workers' stoppage. The lone figure at right is the watchman on duty, Mr B Hoger of St. Peters. Sydney's waterside workers attended an unauthorized stop work meeting at Sydney Town Hall, during which they decided to stay on strike. A total of 6,076 waterside workers stopped work on the 30 ships in port.
